Identify and apply for grants that will contribute funding toward the improvement of school amenities and resources

About Us

Queensland State Schools currently receive funding from the state government (Department of Education) for the following:

  • Waste removal, electricity, water

  • Educators wages

  • Some money for building maintenance

These expenses and school budget are managed by our Ascot State School Business Development Manager (BDM) and Ascot State School Principal.


The Ascot SS P&C funds improvements to the school environment such as;

  • Air-conditioning

  • Playground upgrades

  • Water bubblers

  • Toilets

  • Swimming pool changing rooms

  • Additional learning resources

Funding is also sourced through the wider community via P&C fundraising activities such as:

  • social events

  • pie drives

  • sales of the entertainment guidebook

  • free dress days

  • sponsorship, and

  • grants


Grants range from $500 to $250 000 per initiative. Generally, grants are offered from teh following sources:

  1. Private companies/philanthropy

  2. Local government - Brisbane City Council e.g. BCC School Sports and Recreation grant, Lord Mayor Suburban Initiative grant

  3. State government e.g. Gambling Community Benefit Fund

The P&C has a dedicated Grants Officer that works alongside the Ascot State School Business Manager and P&C Physical Environment Sub-Committee Chair to apply for eligible grants.
